How (and Why) to Fire Someone From Your Band
How (and Why) to Fire Someone From Your Band How (and Why) to Fire Someone From Your Band Terminating a musician is an intense recommendation. To begin with, you must be certain you even reserve the privilege to fire somebody from the band and proceed on utilizing a similar name and material. Dont expect this is the situation, on the grounds that there might be legitimate issues included. As much as nobody prefers to terminate a colleague or bandmate, sometimes it must be finished. Theres little you can do to make it sound like extraordinary news to the individual getting the boot, however there are things you can do to reduce the aftermath and ensure yourself and the band. ? Before you make the stride, ensure its justified, despite all the trouble. Is the individual not appearing for practices? Is their conduct harmful to the remainder of the gathering? Possibly theyre not capable musically, or, maybe its only a character struggle that cant be settled. 1. They Don't Show Up for Practice Groups have various ways to deal with work on relying upon their timetables and music objectives. Interestingly, youre all on the same wavelength with how things are done in your band. In the event that all of you are totally dedicated to making routinely booked practices and trying sincerely while youre there, yet your bandmate isnt, at that point youve got an issue on your hands. Their absence of promise to rehearse is probably going to spill into different zones of your music. 2. Their Behavior Is an Issue Do you have somebody in your band who is everlastingly starting quarrel at settings, appearing late to significant arrangements, and overindulging in music business abundances to the detriment of the work youre doing? This sort of terrible conduct may appear to be very awesome to them, however as a general rule, theyre making you look awful and giving your band a notoriety that could affect your odds of getting new shows, attracting managers and agents, etc. In the event that youre getting kicked out of each scene youre appearing at play, its time for a little harm control. 3. Your Band Is Their Side Project When youre beginning as a band, its normal to get performers who have different ventures going on. That is fine, however such a relationship has its method of running its course. This musician may get so amped up for your music that your band turns into their primary concern, or they might be now so dedicated to another demonstration that youre continually going to be a supportive role. On the off chance that things begin occurring for your band - like getting large visiting chances or an arrangement - at that point you need somebody who can be ready for the venture as far as possible. In the event that youve got somebody who simply cant, youre going to need to discover somebody to fill their shoes, regardless of how large. 4. They're Not Up to the Job Few out of every odd artist is a fit for each band. In the event that youve got somebody in your band who isnt musically acceptable with regards to playing your melodies or who just exceeds expectations at things your band doesnt truly need, theyd most likely be more joyful playing with an alternate gathering - and youd be more joyful with an alternate artist playing your tunes. 5. You Just Don't Work Well Together You may feel that you can endure somebody in light of the fact that of their ability, however over the long haul, aptitude isnt enough for a band to succeed. It takes responsibility to the band and one another. It takes shared regard. In the event that youre another band constructing your music vocation together, you dont need to do it with individuals you cannot stand. Right now is an ideal opportunity to construct a band you can go on this excursion with, and its simply simpler on the off chance that all of you like one another and bolster one another. It won't get simpler to get along once arrangements and cash and critical choices begin entering the image. Activities Before You Fire a Band Mate When you realize that youre ready to go separate ways and let your bandmate go, there are a couple of things you have to know before you have the discussion. Ensure You Have the Authority: In most cases, you cant simply see somebody out. Depending which individual from the band is being terminated, the remainder of the gathering probably won't have the option to keep utilizing a similar name and melodies. On the off chance that the individual youre disposing of has some case of responsibility for band, an establishing part, for instance, you might be taking a gander at to a greater extent a band separation situation than a clear terminating. Youd be allowed to proceed with the remainder of the band, yet you might be playing under an alternate name and with new material. You cannot keep on utilizing somebody elses imaginative work while removing them of it except if its obviously illuminated under a band contract. Check Your Band Contract: If you have an agreement, it more likely than not manages circumstances like firings and adequate purposes behind end from the band. On the off chance that youve got the understanding, you need to submit to it, however the agreement may permit you to fire an alleged key individual for a reason expressed in the agreement and keep utilizing the name and the music-with the imperative remuneration, of course.Check Your Record Deal: If you have a record deal and the individual you need to fire individual is indicated as a key part in that record bargain, you chance the name dropping you. The name accepts this part is so significant that losing them would bring about an alternate band from the one they marked. This is generally the situation with a lead artist. For instance, if U2 terminated Bono, they would have a name issue. Yet, a key part can be any musician that your mark sees as basic to your task and open picture. Step by step instructions to Make the Firing Fair Financially The money related intricacy of terminating a musician relies upon where you are in your vocation when the terminating happens. On the off chance that theres no cash coming in and no arrangements going to be marked that this performer helped you get through their ability, work, or associations, at that point it might essentially come down to putting down a little decent confidence money if, state, the withdrawing part was the person who consistently paid for the lager. Then again, if youve got a record bargain, collections that are being sold, permitting salary being produced on melodies this artist composed, at that point things can get chaotic. In the event that youve got an agreement, youll know precisely how to manage the circumstance. Be that as it may, in the event that you dont, discuss the issues and work out an understanding recorded as a hard copy. This is particularly Ditto if this individual put a great deal of cash in the band and ought to be repaid. On the off chance that it gets excessively intricate or excessively quarrelsome, get a go between or legal advisor required to assist you with going to an understanding. Its simpler to manage this now than have it become something path messier down the line, similar to a claim. Furthermore, its reasonable. Instructions to Make the Firing Fair Personally Terminating somebody doesn't commonly charm you to them. Ideally, the artist being given up will concur this fair isnt working out for anybody and proceed onward yet that doesnt consistently occur. Attempt to persuade the individual youre giving up that its in both of your eventual benefits to keep this entire issue as expert as could reasonably be expected. On the off chance that you can, go to a concurrence on how youll all location the inquiries that will come up. After the residue settles-and it will in the long run what individuals will recollect is the elegance you appeared in the circumstance. It will make you progressively appealing to work with. Treat the active musician with however much regard as could reasonably be expected. In the event that you owe them cash, see that they get it. On the off chance that they got some stuff for the band, ensure they get it back. In the event that you are aware of a gig that may be perfect for them, pass it along. Carry out the Thing and Wrap It Up Dont drag out the terminating procedure. Plunk down, have the conversation and ensure youre clear about how any last details will be tied up. You may need to haggle a few things. On the off chance that you do, set up everything as a written record. That is the best and most attractive thing for all gatherings, and it will let you both continue ahead with seeking after your melodic desire much faster.

Why Recruiters Ask You Questions That Your Résumé Clearly Answers Already
Why Recruiters Ask You Questions That Your Résumé Clearly Answers Already Have you, like many other job seekers, noticed that it seems sometimes like recruiters, maybe even hiring managers, ask you questions that have clearly been answered already in your résumé? Like, âDo you have experience with business intelligence tools?â while your last position was âBusiness Intelligence Analyst.â Youâre getting all kinds of advice from career coaches like me to do your research and come to interviews prepared to intelligently talk about the companyâs specific goals or challenges, but you get to the interview and it feels like youâre just interview number 9 today, not their potential next highly valued employee. Experiences like this are just one of the hundreds of gripes that I see job seekers making online, and I have been collecting them for over a year now. (I also procure gripes from recruiters about job seekers, recruiters about HR, recruiters about hiring managers, HR about recruiters, HR about hiring managers, and hiring managers about HR â" what a mess!) I have to admit that as a recruiter, I have been guilty of this. Hereâs what happened: Iâm definitely not condoning recruitersâ negligence to understand a candidateâs experience prior to an interview; it goes against common sense best practices. However, I find the volume and extremity of the gripes I have been procuring online for over a year now to be disturbing and discouraging. Solutions that truly disrupt and overturn the broken system cannot be devised until all parties involved in hiring and careering can understand the other partiesâ perspectives. I donât want to take sides; I want to bring the sides together. This may or may not ease your frustration with the recruiter experience, but ultimately you are absolutely capable of landing your next job without them, and you will probably find those activities much more enjoyable. Eliminate or manage as many stressors as possible so that YOU can be your best self more of the time. Ep 197 - How to Lead Remote Workers - Workology
Ep 197 - How to Lead Remote Workers - Workology Help Your Leaders Be Intentional in Their Team Engagement On todayâs podcast, Iâd like to talk about how we as HR leaders can set the standard for our companies on communication and workflow for remote employees. In its 2019 Future Workforce Report, freelancing website Upwork reports that nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of companies today have remote workers and 2 out of 5 full-time employees will be working remotely in the next three years. While increased adoption of remote work is making it easier for companies to find the talent they need over half (52%) of hiring managers that work at companies with work-from-home policies believe hiring has become easier in the past year educating our hiring managers on working with remote teams effectively hasnât necessarily kept pace with these numbers. In todayâs show, weâre going to talk specifics about what HR leaders can do to give managers the tools and training they need to lead remote teams. This podcast is sponsored by ClearCompany. Ep 198: How to Lead Remote Workers (@HRBrainforHire) Iâm joined today by Delmar Johnson with HR Brain for HR. One of the biggest challenges for managers today is managing and also leading employees. Our workforce has changed dramatically over the last 5-7 years especially when it comes to the number of remote workers. Delmar who has worked in HR as a practitioner for many years and now as an HR consultant has seen the shift too. She was a remote worker herself in corporate and has the unique perspective that I wanted to really tap into. Help Your Leaders Be Intentional in Their Team Engagement I asked Delmar about what is the best way for leaders to keep remote employees and team members engaged. Its such a challenge especially if you are the only remote worker on your team when the rest of them are working in the office on a regular basis. She says that the key is for the leader to be intentional. She says that scheduling time and working hard to include all remote workers in conversations, meetings, trainings, and also making time for that relationship building is critical to keeping your remote workers feeling part of the team. When that trust and communication with remote workers is established, they feel more valued. These are the two key factors in all things in business. You know, you want to keep them. - @hrbrainforhire #remoteworkers #podcast Click To Tweet As far as tools to make this happen, Delmar recommends technology to be a driving factor in helping you achieve this with video technology like Zoom, Slack, and other messaging platforms to help allow for communciation and relationship building. On my team we are mostly all remote. We have a group of international team members too. Whats App has been a great technology to help keep our team connected. I love it because its free and we are going where our employees are already spending their time. Sort of like text messaging peers to check in versus sending them an email where they might overlook your conversation or miss a critical communciation. The Importance of Expectations for All Employees Including Remote Workers One of the other challenges when you have a dispersed or remote team is managing their productivity and performance levels. Delmar says that setting expectations from the beginning is critical to ensure that employees understand what they need to do in order to get the job done. And ongoing she says that we, as leaders should be checking in with those employees giving them feedback and being direct and honest with them if they arent meeting performance expectations. If we are talking by phone or over the screen it can be a challenge because we cant read each others body language. So be open and up front if someone has missed the mark. Talk with them, be clear, and have them put together a plan of action of how they are going to go about meeting productivity or performance levels. Conclusion Understanding that hiring and employing a dispersed workforce is the new normal is critical to making a significant shift in how we work with remote employees and candidates, and how we make those experiences as seamless and productive as possible. Remote work has become a vital part of a companyâs operations and Iâm glad to have had the opportunity to get advice from Delmar Johnson as a leader in this space. Deans List Resume - How to Fill Out a Successful Resume Using a Deans List Resume Template
Dean's List Resume - How to Fill Out a Successful Resume Using a Dean's List Resume TemplateWhen I use the term Dean's List Resume, I mean one that has the dean's name in the title and is an exact match to the curriculum vitae template. The text should be clear, concise, and complete. It is a different way of filling out a resume. There are other different ways, but this is an example of what I mean.A Dean's List Resume uses the template as a guide to describe a person's abilities, achievements, or other traits that make them an ideal candidate for the job. It's not an exact match to the curriculum vitae but it does illustrate what the person is looking for. So if the curriculum vitae has all of your education covered, then a Dean's List Resume only has the name and specialization of the school and not the details of the education you have completed. There are many colleges and universities out there, so each will have a different curriculum. Each of the schools listed is represented on a Dean's List Resume as part of the curriculum. This means that the person listed is one of the individuals involved in evaluating the curriculum. This is why the Dean's List Resume is a great way to get started when filling out a resume. Most professors will have more than one curriculum that is required for their class. The Dean's List Resume is your quick and easy way to discover what that specific curriculum is and what it entails. Even if your college doesn't have a specific course that requires it, it will be easier to figure it out after reading through the Dean's List Resume. When you are looking through the Dean's List Resume, it's important to understand that they have many resources available to help. They will provide you with the curriculum and be happy to answer any questions you may have. They will also be able to tell you if there are specific skills or licenses required for the position you are applying for. If you have been unsuccessful in locating this informatio n, they can tell you if they cannot fulfill the requirement.Students who are looking for employment after finishing their undergraduate degree will find the Dean's List Resume an invaluable resource. The websites and programs available will make it easy to fill out the application, write a compelling cover letter, and then apply for the job. As mentioned before, they will also have many resources available for finding the faculty and classes that match up with your career goals. Again, they will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the requirements of the positions you are trying to fill.If you have taken courses that are not listed on the Dean's List Resume, it can sometimes be difficult to find the information you need. The website will list all of the programs that are required for that specific curriculum. It will also give you the general curriculum as well as the specific requirements of each course. This will make it easy to find the courses you need to go back and complete. So if you have a curriculum vitae in front of you are interested in getting a job at an exceptional college or university, the Dean's List Resume is a quick and easy way to find what you are looking for. All of the schools listed will be included, even if they don't meet the requirements that you want. Simply scan through the list and see what fits best for you and then apply!

Creative Resumes How Much Is Too Much
Innovative Resumes â" How Much Is Too Much Those of us who cause our living in the field of enrolling to have seen a lot of resumes. During my residency as a Sourcer, I would dare to state I saw over a thousand continues a month. About these were standard print resumes posted on web work sheets and profession locales. As of late, I saw an article entitled 13 Insanely Cool Resumes That Landed Interviews at Google and Other Top Jobs. These included staggering works of development and visual communication, some of which were deserving of divider space in the Guggenheim. Resumes looking like film banners, metro maps and Facebook pages, continues that included tables of substance, data illustrations and recordings, even a resume weaved on a bit of texture were completely highlighted in the article. In any case, notwithstanding the inventiveness and masterful magnificence that these resumes showed, another descriptor rung a bell⦠pointless excess. I really wanted to consider how these kinds of resumes were seen by managers â" as a presentation of genuine innovative virtuoso, or as a weep for consideration from jobless applicants with an excessive amount of time to burn. There Are Always Exceptions The way that a competitor had the option to protect a meeting at Google with an over-the-top resume doesn't shock me. Google is known for being one of a kind in each regard, and it works for them. Any organization whose representatives slip slides and fire shafts in the workplace rather than flights of stairs must value the fresh reasoning that such a resume illustrates. In any case, shouldn't something be said about the remainder of the world's bosses that don't hold executive gatherings on beanbag seats? Heres an inventive resume model (you choose whether its to an extreme or not!): How To Make a Creative Resume on Prezi. Now and again Less Is More An article imprinted in Brigham Young University's school magazine recounts a MBA understudy who sent his resume to Johnson, just to have it come back with the guidelines that it should have been imprinted on white paper, sent unstapled in a 8 ½ x 11 envelope, and couldn't have extravagant printing or illustrations, strong, underlines, italics, or little print. This especially concerned three BYU educators of Management Communication whose lessons included adorning resumes with these things. The educators chose to lead an investigation of the pervasiveness among Fortune 500 organizations of electronic resume the board (ERM) frameworks â" frameworks that oversee continue information in a database that permits the information to be accessible. The current issue was whether these organizations who got huge volumes of resumes used scanners to include resumes into the ERMs, and assuming this is the case, would their scanners have the option to precisely peruse content from decorated resumes. The outcomes indicated that 60 percent of the organizations reviewed didn't examine their resumes, rather deciding to include the information physically. Of the organizations that scanned the resumes they got, 77 percent said their scanners would for the most part acknowledge adorned typography. At long last, the three educators felt they could securely keep on guiding understudies to adorn their resumes. Know Your Audience Regardless of an organization's capacity to enter a resume's substance into their database, the inquiry remains whether managers approve of protracted, ostentatious or excessively innovative resumes. In certain businesses, for example, visual computerization or promoting, the resume may go about as a no nonsense case of the up-and-comer's capacity to do the kind of work that the activity involves. What better approach to demonstrate you're deserving of a vocation than with a resume that exhibits your aptitude to the employing chief before they even read a word? In any case, for occupations that don't straightforwardly include the abilities used to make the resume, numerous businesses will see the competitor as somebody with lost needs â" somebody who invests a lot of energy diverting himself with making a report as opposed to concentrating on giving that archive something to do so as to accomplish its expected outcome. Continuously Have a Back-up Plan The truth of the matter is that each activity is unique, just like each business. In the event that an applicant has the ability and innovation to make a resume that will separate the person in question from the opposition, and the production of such an archive is what the competitor really appreciates doing, at that point why not put the aptitude to use so as to acquire business? However, the up-and-comer ought to consistently make sure to keep a plain, unembellished duplicate of their resume close by also for those businesses who need nothing to do with innovative, masterful resumes. At long last, the eye-getting blaze and flare on a competitor's resume that gets the person in question the activity at one organization is precisely the same interruption that will course the resume straight into the recruiting supervisor's junk can at another organization.

Resume Mistakes To Avoid To Make A Good Resume
Resume Mistakes To Avoid To Make A Good Resume The 10 most noticeably terrible resume mix-ups to stay away from Normal resume botches are misleadingly simple to make. Youve been applying to employments like insane, however it appears just as the entirety of your applications have vanished into the dark opening of the Internet. Asking why your resume isnt getting you any meetings? Were eager to wager its not on the grounds that youre inadequate or just not adequate (which, for the record, you are sufficient). Its presumable in light of the fact that resume botches are causing at least one deadly mistakes. Occupation searchers, be careful! Everything necessary is only one to strike your pursuit of employment dead in its tracks. Certainly something section level specialists should be watching out for when composing your first resume. Think your resume is impenetrable? Indeed, even the most experienced experts despite everything get themselves blameworthy of committing resume errors. Plural. With just a unimportant six seconds to wow a selection representative, having any sort of misstep on your resume isn't a hazard even the most brave of occupation searchers should take. All things considered, your resume is the primary purpose of get in touch with you make with a potential business, so you need that early introduction to be a solid, away from of exactly how wonderful you are at what you do. That is the means by which you get an interviewand then once you rock that, a vocation. As you compose your resumeor give your resume its half year updatemake sure it doesnt incorporate any of these regular resume botches recorded beneath. 1. Mistakes and linguistic blunders Indeed, we know, its presumably the most evident of all resume tips: It needs to begrammatically great. On the off chance that your resume isnt, bosses will figure out the real story and make not really complimenting determinations about you, like,This individual cannot compose, or, This individual clearly doesnt care. 2. Absence of points of interest Your resume shouldnt essentially express the conspicuous to a recruiting director. Bosses need to comprehend what youve done and achieved. For instance: A. Worked with representatives in an eatery setting B. Selected, recruited, prepared and directed in excess of 20 workers in an eatery with $2 million in yearly deals Both of these expressions could portray a similar individual, however the subtleties and particulars in model B will almost certain catch a businesses eye. 3. Endeavoring the onesizefitsall methodology At whatever point you attempt to create ageneric resumeto send to all activity advertisements, you quite often end up with something managers will hurl in the reuse canister. Your absence of exertion shouts, Im not especially intrigued by your organization. To be perfectly honest, any ol employment will do. Bosses need to feel extraordinary and need you to compose a resume explicitly for them. They anticipate that you should unmistakably show how and why you fit the situation in a particular association. 4. Featuring obligations rather than achievements Your resume needs to show how great you are at your specific employment, however its very simple to slip into a mode where you essentially begin posting your obligations. For instance: Gone to amass gatherings and recorded minutes Worked with kids in a day-care setting Refreshed departmental documents That is pretty much a reverberation of your expected set of responsibilities. Businesses, be that as it may, dont care such a great amount about what youve done aswhat youve accomplishedin your different exercises. One of the most essential resume tips is to go past indicating what was required and show how you had any kind of effect at each organization, giving explicit examples.Theyre looking to proclamations progressively like these: Recorded week by week meeting minutes and aggregated them in a Microsoft Word-based document for future hierarchical reference Created three day by day exercises for preschool-age youngsters and set them up for a 10-minute occasion program execution Revamped 10 years worth of inconvenient records, making them effectively open to division individuals Need assistance? Ask yourself these inquiries: How could you play out the activity superior to other people? What were the issues or difficulties confronted? How could you conquer them? What were the outcomes? How did the organization profit by your presentation? Did you get any honors, exceptional acknowledgments, or advancements therefore? 5. Going on too long or stopping things as well Numerous individuals attempt to press their encounters onto one page, on the grounds that theyve heard resumes shouldnt be longer. Thusly, work searchers may erase amazing accomplishments. Different applicants babble about insignificant or excess experiences.Despite what you may peruse or hear, there are no genuine guidelines governingresume length. Why? Since individuals, who have various inclinations and desires where resumes are concerned, will understand it. That doesnt mean you should begin conveying five-page resumes, obviously. As a rule, you for the most part need to restrain yourself to a limit of two pages. In any case, dont feel you need to utilize two pages on the off chance that one will do. On the other hand, dont cut the meat out of your resume just to cause it to comply with a self-assertive one-page standard. When composing your resume, ask yourself, Will this announcement assist me with handling a meeting? Each word should sell you, so incorporate just the data that evokes a yes. 6. Terrible synopsis Numerous applicants lose their perusers directly toward the start, with their vocation outline. Businesses do peruse this bit of your resume, but frequently they crash through unclear pufferies like, Accomplished proficient looking for vocation growth.Such proclamations are abused, excessively broad, and waste important space. Give bosses something explicit and, all the more significantly, something that centers around their necessities just as your own. Model: A cultivated advertising director that created grant winning efforts for Fortune 500 customers that added to half increment in stock worth. 7. No activity action words Abstain from utilizing phrases like answerable for. Rather, useaction action words. Not exclusively do these words help to flaunt your drive, they additionally help punch up the general tone of your resume. For instance: Settled client inquiries as a major aspect of an IT help work area serving 4,000 understudies and staff. Expanded natural hunt visits 20% year over year Built up a complete onboarding program for recently recruited employees 8. Leaving off significant data You might be enticed, for instance, to dispense with notice of the employments youve taken to gain additional cash for school. Regularly, be that as it may, the delicate abilities youve picked up from these encounters (e.g., hard working attitude, time the executives) are more critical to businesses than you may might suspect. 9. Outwardly excessively occupied In the event that your resume is one end to the other content highlighting five distinct text styles, it will in all likelihood give the business a migraine. So demonstrate your resume to a few others before sending it out. Do they find itvisually appealing? On the off chance that what you have is difficult for the eyes, overhaul. 10. Off base contact data I once worked with an understudy whose resume appeared to be unfathomably solid, yet he wasnt getting any nibbles from businesses. So one day, I playfully inquired as to whether the telephone number hed recorded on his resume was right. It wasnt. When he transformed it, he began getting the calls hed been anticipating. Lesson of the story: Double-check even the most moment, underestimated subtleties as soon as possible. Defend your resume: Do this next There are a lot of entanglements to dodge and avoid whenwriting a resume, however regardless of how cautious you are, theres consistently a possibility youll disregard something that can undermine your endeavors. CIO Executive Resume, CIO Resumes
CIO Executive Resume, CIO Resumes Designing a high-impact executive resume as a CIO, or if you are evolving to become an information technology (IT) executive, is one of the most effective means of communicating your skills, promoting your achievements and demonstrating how you are the best candidate for a coveted CIO role. The key difference in creating an effective CIO executive resume versus a professional-level IT resume is to integrate human capital management skills and fiscal acumen abilities alongside with technical hardware, software and cloud solutions throughout the resume. An example of how this is done is outlined in thisCIO Resume Sample. The bottom line is, as an IT executive, you need to demonstrate how you can utilize human and technological resources to improve corporate profitability. Period. Here are seven ways you can achieve this goal: 1. Practice what you preach.IT recruiters tell me that nothing irks them more than an IT executive that does not include website or social media links on their resume. I am told that a CIO or upcoming IT Executive that has very little to no presence on the internet, or worse, a poor presence on the web, demonstrates that either they are not a lover of technology or that they are a poor promoter of themselves. 2. Gravitate from tactical implementation and graduate to strategic perspective. When compiling your CIO resume, be sure that you showcase your corporate contributions to top line, expense line items, workflow productivity and the bottom line. Graduate from citing specific tactical skills and responsibilities, that can be common in a staff-level or middle management information technology resume, to outlining initiatives where you have added value and projects that you have led to achieve results. The key with a CIO resume, as with all c-level resumes is to include the long-range effects of your work in addition to the short-term results. You want to show how you can strategize on the big picture and cause movement with what is directly in front of you. 3. Showcase soft skills alongside strong financial achievements.Dont have readers get lost in your resume with a list of systems, software, hardware and applications in which you have expertise. Your CIO executive resume will be read by technical and non-technical types and you must cater to both audiences. We know you have impressive credentials and achievements, but don't let the metrics overshadow your human capital accomplishments. Outline how you incorporated technology and human capital to drive workflow productivity, revenues and profits for the business. 4.Demonstrate that you can attract high quality talent and lead teams to achieve results.Effective IT Executives not only manage technology, but they successfully manage people to manage technology to bring results. Successful CIOs set up deals, influence key decision makers, nurture vendor relationships, possess sharp negotiation skills and attract key talent. Do not lose sight of the importance of your people skills contributing to your past and future success. 5.Use appropriate context when communicating to prospective employers.Talking about your biggest achievement is not always best. Reframing it, however, to showcase your accomplishments in a way that is digestible for the prospective employer is always preferred. If you saved $7 Million dollars on one initiative within a $125 Million dollar employer, but now you are applying to a $18 Million firm, you may be perceived as being overqualified for this next position. Either choose achievements that are within the fiscal scope of the prospective company, or consider using percentages to outline your accomplishments. Another tactic to use is to focus on downplaying or highlighting the size of regional budgets, global budgets, business lines, or other business entity sizes to match the prospects. 6.Showcase results and downplay technical jargon.Outline your technical and human capital achievements in universal language and not just financial jargon. From Acclaimed Recording Artist to Top Flight Recruiter Erik Simins Hits All the Right Notes When it Comes to Career Success Building Your Future Now Erik Simins has built a career on an ability to learn, persevere and succeed. He has been a top tier sales professional in the pharmaceutical sector, a popular singer/song writer, a top-billing recruiter and a serial entrepreneur. The underlying success has been Simins focus on achieving his goals despite many harah lessons he has faced being in several ultra competitive industries such as recruitment and music. However, before becoming the CEO of his own recruitment firm, Simins was an entertainer gaining momentum with his smooth vocals, charismatic style and strong song writing ability. He was initially given a nudge by an instructor to pursue music professional but it wasnt until a chance encounter with a local producer that things started falling into place One night I was at the gym, it was right before close so no one was there. I was singing because the acoustics were amazing and out pops a man from around the corner and asked me if I was singing. Simins notes. We producer and owned a record company. I eventually went into the studio with him and that was my introduction to the world of studio recording. Erik Simins on the set of the Parents House music video Although Simins first recording experience wasnt a memorable one, he nevertheless used it as an opportunity to pursue his love for singing and songwriting. Although he started to gain momentum, Simins still worked as a successful sales professional in the pharmaceutical sector. And despite his sales success and earning a degree in Kinesiology, his desire to launch into a career in music eventually was just too great. I ended up meeting more people during the process and digging deeper in the industry. I eventually got paired up with Adam Messinger. He was probably the most talented producer in our country. I was very lucky to catch him before he headed down to the States. Simins explains, He has won a grammy and written for superstars like Christina Aguilera and Justin Bieber. Simins ended up recording a well-received debut album called Do Not Disturb yielding several radio hits including Parents House. But as Simins continued deeper into his music career he realized it was something he wasnt fully committed to. The music industry certainly isnt for everyone. I have an addictive personality. I went all-in in all elements in the industry and it really beat me up. I realized I couldnt do this in a sustained amount of time. Simins continues, And when I was out gigging there were guys that were like 10 to 15 years my senior that were making 100 or 200 dollars a night. And before I got into music I was making six figures in the pharmaseutial industry. I realized I couldnt do this forever. I dont love it enough. It was at that point Simins decided it was time to move on and get back into sales. He connected with several recruiters in order to help him get a position. Three out of four recruiment firms I worked with said I had the science background and the selling skills to do well as a recruiter. At first I wasnt too interested in it, but then they showed me their pay cheques; I thought to myself I can do this and do really well. Thats when I decided to go into recrutiment instead of medical sales. Erik Simins with his MAGNUS team Simins exceptional people skills and solid sales ability quickly made him one of the standouts at the recruitment firm. I worked for one recruitment firm for 5 years and I always wanted to be partners. I was always ambitious. There were a couple of things they asked me to do and I did them and then some. I achieved a lot at that firm like billing $100,000 in one month and I was top billing recruiter for 3 years. I did everything they asked in order to be a partner. Simins notes, And when it was time they asked me to put a business plan together for us. It took me a couple of months and the plan was for me to create any entirely new division at the firm. It was a really good deal for them and they are probably still kicking themselves for not taking it. At that point I decided to start my Magmus Personnel. Simins quickly grew his new company into a market player in recruitment. He explains, You see a vision and until that vision is realized nothing stops you from getting there. And in our second year we did $2 million and grew new offices. Erik Simins with investors in Toyko With his company thriving, Simins did what any entrepreneur would do: he started a new venture. So in 2017 he hired a replacement CEO for MAGNUS and started a new company called BlockAble. The company was focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency. When we did the first rise of the capital to fund the company we had 5 asks and we got 4 yeses. It was an incredibly easy time to raise money if you had a Blockchain application. And the market at that time was insane. People were raising money for things that didnt exist. So there were a lot of scammers out there, but we were a legimate business and we went to market. What a ride that was! We raised about a million in capital and went out to raise more. I think I did 9 countries in about 3 months. I travelled to Toyko. Singapore. Puerto Rico. All over the US. Dubai. All over the Middle East to raise money for our utility token. However by February 2018 there was a clamp down in the ability to raise capital and Simins company ended giving back some of that money back that they had raised. I learned a lot about raising that type of capital however we needed a business model that was going to appease existing commercial enterprise clients. Simins continues, We pivoted our business and changed our technologywe went into a more commerical/business application centric model and we have been building on that for the last year or so. Erik Simins at Conference Media Night in 2018 The technology that Simins company deals gives it a way to verify a resumes information and to keep in secure in order to avoid any tempering. Our goal over time has been to make this the new gold standard in respect to what a resume has on it. A resume now is just has self-proclaimed information and there is no verification of that information. And this technology provides another level of verification and authencity on the resume. Now the claims and background are all verified and is avaiable to the employers through our secure portal. Simins diverse career has now spanned several decades. He has always been a high sales performer and brought that competitive fire to the music game. He continues to turn the recruitment industry on its head with his out-of-the-box concepts. As Simins explains, You have to develop new skills during the entire process in running and building a business. You have to have a real thirst for learning and a real passion to continue to improve yourself. I have always been a proponent of throwing yourself into the fire and getting burned. Simins notes, Its then just scrapping off the chard and moving forward. I can tell you there are easier ways to go through life, but I have always chosen the paths that I believe will make me stronger and seasonedand they have all led to opportunities beyond my wildest dreams.
